O’Briens Fleet Solutions - Maintenance Includes

What Does Maintenance Include?

We only use our franchise dealerships  for vehicle servicing.

Our maintenance package is comprehensive and covers Road Tax, Servicing, Tyres, Breakdown Cover and Courtesy Vehicles. Driver neglect or malicious damage are not covered. More details on maintenance below:

 

  • Oil Service - engine oil, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter
  • Renew spark plugs
  • Renew brake fluid
  • Fuel filters
  • Renew front and rear brake pads & discs
  • Renew clutch assembly - only if fair wear & tear/ worn
  • Renew wiper blade rubbers

In regards to tyres we operate a like for like replacement policy, in line with manufacturers guidelines, this ensures that the same tyre size and rating are put back on. Our policy is to replace all tyres that have worn due to fair usage at 2mm. The legal tread depth is 1.6mm. This is for the safety of your drivers. We only use premium brand tyres. Tyre wear more often than not falls out of sync with service intervals. Because of this we use various Fast Fit networks which gives us nationwide coverage and alleviates down time as tyres are replaced when they are needed and whilst you wait.

The only items excluded from our maintenance packages are anything directly related to premature wear, abuse or breakage by the driver

 

 

Ownership Vs Contract Hire

Cash Purchase
Capital is tied up in a depreciating asset with no return of investment, if this money was used on core business returns could be up near 20%.

Vs

No capital investment is needed monthly payments are spread out evenly over the term at market leading interest rates.


Hire Purchase
Up to 30% deposit may be needed initially. Interest rates may be high and your business will be using up credit lines with the bank that may be needed for your core business. No maintenance or vehicle management is included.

Vs

We do not fund through high street banks the finance house we use specialise in contract hire this will leave your own banks credit lines open. Typically no deposit is needed which leaves all your cash in the business.

 

Residual Value
Company is exposed to the volatile used car market.

Vs

We under write the risk if the market collapse we absorb the cost


Maintenance, Road Tax & Tyres

Company is liable for all these costs and no controls on price are in place. Administration costs can be high raising PO’s for individual items. Costs also will vary nationwide and unnecessary work

may also take place. Replacement vehicles may be costly or not available which increases employee down time.

Vs

This is a fixed cost paid monthly we assume the risk for overspends. Company avails of our buying power ensuring lowest tyre cost and lowest fixed labour rates nationwide. Replacement vehicles are provided free of charge and flexible service booking times are available which minimises employee down time.

 

Administration
Service, tyres & repair invoice have to be processed and paid, road taxing and

DOE/NCT have to be completed. The company is liable for the variable costs plus this takes up valuable man hours away from the core business

Vs

We manage all the vehicles administration, service

bookings, fines and service invoices . Drivers contact our team directly with requests or issues. The only administration needed is the processing of the monthly fixed invoices

 

End of Term
When you decide your vehicle is ready to be changed you must go through the process again of trying to sell your asset and renegotiate the purchase of a replacement. All this will be done without independent expert advice on what your current vehicle is actually worth and what the actual costs of running the new vehicle are. Capital investment will again be needed to replace the vehicle putting a strain on

the companies cash position. At end of term you may walk away from the contract, extend the contract, buy the vehicle at trade price or simply order a replacement. When ordering a replacement you will avail of our independent expert advice on what vehicles are best value and most efficient at that time.
Vs
When recommending vehicles we evaluate the “whole life cost” of the vehicle. This is the best strategy for new vehicles and our industry knowledge allows us to do this efficiently. Companies engaging in a straight purchase strategy are often enticed by low purchase prices and do not take into account what the vehicle will cost to run over the period they plan on keeping it for.
